“Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony.” – Ghandi

After several months of illness, I am in the process of realigning myself with what matters most to me. What in my life do I want to prioritize? How do I want to spend my time and energy—and with whom? Making time for my family and for others I love is easier than fulfilling another priority: making time to write. I thought about writing and told people about books I was working on, but the truth was that I rarely devoted time and energy to writing them because I prioritized other responsibilities. What I thought, what I said and what I did were not in alignment.

To give myself more time to write, I quit an administrative post at work, a job I had for five years on top of my teaching position. With two sons in college, it wasn’t a good time to reduce my income. However, to my surprise, I recently won a grant to help offset what was lost. Though it was a risk to make a change, the universe stepped up to support me in my quest to live a life in alignment.
